Artforo announces the inauguration of the work “Behm Organics” by renowned Dominican-French artist Georges Thevenet at BlueMall Punta Cana, whose opening and ribbon cutting is scheduled for the afternoon of Tuesday, November 10, at 4:00 pm in the central hallway of the luxurious plaza.
This inauguration is part of the warm-up program for the international contemporary art fair Artforo, which will be held in style for a week at the same shopping plaza.
Georges Thevenet has worked for more than three decades in the Dominican territory. He says he feels very proud that his works are a permanent part of this plaza, which is the most important of the Dominican tourist areas.
“Having the patronage and support of BlueMall is a great opportunity for the development of my art. Here I present nine sculptures divided into three groups or “forests”, with interpretations of trees ranging from 4.5 to 7 meters high, in which I have worked with an interesting combination of iron and wood,” said the renowned artist.
Thevenet said that “visitors to the plaza will be able to connect with a focus on Dominican history, because I use colorful wood from old houses from all over the national territory as elements of my pieces, so they are all a hymn to the island culture, and to the deep memory of the Dominican people.”
“Without a doubt, BlueMall is a worldwide brand and my work will be part of this seal that represents quality and lifestyle, adding an important presence of art in the plaza, and anticipating the most important art fair in the Caribbean that will take place there, a month later,” he said.
Georges Thevenet’s works are part of important collections, both in the country and abroad.
